Rumors persist over Google purchase of Twitter

BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Rumors and speculation continue as to whether Google will buy up Twitter, the popular micro-blogging platform.

Twitter's owners have consistently maintained they are not interested in selling the site and want to remain independent. But at the Allen & Co conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, where deal making is the order of the day, top CEOs of both companies could be spotted involved in deep discussion.

Google co-founder Larry Page was talking for some time to Twitter CEO Evan Williams, but it is not clear if they were talking about a possible buy up. Williams was also seen talking to Google CEO Eric Schmidt who once described Twitter as a poor man's email. Joined soon after by Qualcomm's CEO Paul Jacobs the trio continued their discussions. Qualcomm are known for the production of computer chips, MP3 players and other devices.

Leaving Schmidt behind, Jacobs and Williams were last seen heading off in a golf cart, to play golf or discuss a lucrative deal is not clear, but the web remains a twitter as to this developing story.
